About Naomi

My Heart Rejoices is a collection of original Christian songs written and performed by Naomi Lewis Underwood. They are purposely “short”; we like to call them “a minute long but a lifetime deep”. The brevity of the songs make them easy to learn and sing whenever and wherever you may be.

Recording Method

Everything you hear was produced using modest equipment at home. While the songs were originally written on her piano, the recordings were done over multiple tracks using a Yamaha keyboard and a laptop. No electronic or canned “accompaniment” was used. Naomi played the foundation piano track first, followed and layered by 2 (or 3) “strings” tracks all recorded on the laptop. With the music layers done, Naomi then sang a final voice track. No professional editing or mastering has been done on these recordings. They are the originals as recorded.

Deep Musical History

Naomi comes from a long line of musicians. Her father, Gerald, was an accomplished guitar player and missionary. Her mother, Louise, played piano for many churches across Maryland for more than 65 years.

Naomi got her love for music by being surrounded by her Church family and a curiosity to learn the piano. She is self-taught and plays primarily by ear. Her songs are inspired by the Word of God and come to her when she least expects it; they are never created out of “need” to write a song. We hope you enjoy and share them!

Please respect the creation and performance of these compositions. They can be played and sung by individuals and non-profits for no royalties but they may not be recorded or reproduced without our express, written permission.
